Volkwein’s Music has been Pittsburgh’s premier music store since 1888. From our beginnings in Downtown Pittsburgh and our historic building on Pittsburgh’s North Side, Volkwein’s has been helping children, educators and music enthusiasts for over one hundred and twenty years. Our primary mission is starting and keeping children involved in music through our easy and flexible rental program. We encourage parents to bring their children to either Volkwein’s music store. We have instruments on display to help spark a child’s curiosity. In addition to accessories we have hundreds of music collections written specifically for their instrument to browse through. This allows your child to be involved in the decision process.
We are a full-service music store with an emphasis on band, orchestra and percussion instruments and accessories including new and used instruments sales and rentals. Volkwein’s has an extensive selection of sheet music, collections and methods from piano and vocal sheet music to major orchestral works and everything in between. Our brass, woodwind, string and percussion repair shops complete hundreds of minor adjustment to complete overhauls each year. This recently includes a 1953 60” Slingerland Bass Drum.
